Forgive me, please. I got so caught up in the whole Royal Wedding Snub that I completely forgot to tell you that the Duchess was leaving. She packed her suitcase and carefully weighed it (you know the airlines are really picky about that now, AND they charge $20 for the FIRST BAG!) Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, the Duchess packed her bag and flew in an airplane to Southern California to visit her family and get out of the rain. She was gone a very long time. Eight whole days!!! (You will be happy to know that she sailed through security at the airport. No X-Ray scanners and no TSA Gropers. Whew!)
The first few days were grey and yucky, but the sun came out after that and it was very nice. One day it got to 75 degrees and the Duchess thought she was going to melt! Obviously she is not quite ready for summer :) But Spring is finally upon us here at the Castle and she is grateful for that. All of us are!
My Peeps are growing like crazy, and now they get to come out of their house into their fenced "yard" whenever it is not raining. They love it. Usually I lay by their fence and watch them while Higgins runs around them in circles.
Yesterday the Duke and Duchess were out doing yard work when the Duke came looking for me. He almost had a heart attack when he found me INSIDE the fenced Chicken yard with my Peeps. He didn't know that I had a secret way to get inside. I don't know why he got so excited about it. My Peeps were just doing their thing and I was feasting upon the delicious droppings to be found on the ground!
Anyway, I got a severe scolding and my feelings were hurt. I don't think I really did anything bad. Then, later in the day, I kid you not, the Duke found Mister Higgins INSIDE the fence with the Peeps. He was having a blast herding and eating Peep Poop. (It is truly a delicacy). Even the Duchess witnessed it this time. Both the Duke and Duchess were totally amazed that no Peeps were mauled or even touched by either one of us. They have so little faith, I tell you! (Either that or they just don't know how addicting Peep Poop is!) In any case, everyone survived and all is back to normal. The Duke says before the weekend is over he will have "fixed" the fence around the Peeps yard. :( Bummer.
I should also tell you that I had to go to the Vet. I have a sore on my leg and have to put drops on it for two weeks, twice a day. If I don't lick it I don't have to wear the horrible collar. My Vet called it the "Happy Hat". Yeah, right. I think Vets should have to wear "Happy Hats" all through Vet School! Then they would not be so anxious to prescribe them for the rest of us.
And. . . . .
One more thing before I go. I just have to tell you -
WE ARE GOING CAMPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the weather is good there will be lot's of pictures to share. If it rains we will just take pictures inside :) There will be 7 dogs and 7 people. Only 5 of the dogs get along, but all of the people do :)
Kisses,
Hey Emma Rose,
ReplyDeleteJust a cruisin the net and came across your page. You sound wonderful and you are a girl after my own heart.
I don't have peeps but I have geese and I think you would find geese doo doo as good as peep doo.
I am enjoying reading your blog and your older posts. I look forward to reading more in the future.
Nice to meet you
Bert
she lied, we live here and didn't see her

Happy Hat! That cracked me up. Love the visual of all the vets in their collars during school. Glad you made it back home safely from Cali!
ReplyDeleteOh Emma Rose...We are soooo sorry you got yourself caught but if you are real careful surely you can get back in there again! We don't have any of that kind of poop here but in Montana I loved the wild turkey poop. Wild must have made it taste better. But M.O.M. hated it when I did that so I didn't do it anymore.
ReplyDeleteGlad you mom is back home with you and your leg is okay.
Hugs and wags, Mistaya and Maggie
Your peeps are really growing!! I am so glad none were harmed in your recent escapade...I hope you didn't have horrible poop breath after your snacking:)
ReplyDeleteSo the Duchess escaped..I bet she was visiting..camping.. great I always enjoy your camping photos..who is going to take care of the peeps while you are camping? Maybe you will have to stay home..
Chance sends you kisses:)
Me thinks you didn't deserve to get scolded for that. You are right, you did nothing wrong except help to clean up all the doo doo in the chickens' place.
ReplyDeleteWhat is wrong with the humans, don't they recognize a good poopcleaner when they see one right before their eyes! Hrumph - no appreciation for what you and Mr. Higgins did.
ReplyDeleteHope you have fun camping.

We are happy to hear that the Duchess was able to escape for awhile and have some fun! We think Mr. Higgins being inside the peep's fence is funny!! He was helping them find their way while cleaning up the poop so they wouldn't have to! Emma, we hope you leg gets all better and soon. We hope you don't have to wear that crazy hat. We do wish the vets would wear them....it would teach them a good lesson!
ReplyDeleteHave fun camping!!! That really sounds like fun!!!
Lots of love, Debbie & Holly
What EVER is wrong with these crazy two leggers?? I mean REALLY... Peep Poop has GOT to be DELICIOUS. And it certainly DOES need to be Removed from the Peep Pen. No appreciation.

Hi Emma Rose, I'm so pleased to hear that you are off camping because I know how much you like it. I'm sure you were very good with the Peeps, Border Collies are not really killer dogs are they. I'm wondering how you all manged when the Duchess was away?
ReplyDeleteSure hope your leg is better, Emma Rose. Did you tear it breaking into the peeps pen? Hope it was better before your camping trip. What do you do with the dogs on the trip who don't get along with the other dogs?
ReplyDeleteJed & Abby [especially Abby] are having a hard time wrapping their brains around being in a pen with peeps and only eating the poop. Jed would retrieve them, not herd them. Abby, having a very strong prey drive, would fulfill the Duke's & Duchess' worst fears.

Have fun camping!
ReplyDeleteOh you (hate to say it... and your home bro)are so smart to get to that peep poop heheh! Sounds yumzers, Emma! (Avalon might not have been so nice to your peeps, however!) Can't wait to hear about your camping adventures - our weather has just been awful and continues with rain outside ugh!
