Update on Higgins and Other Stuff

Mister Higgins is doing excellent.  The Duchess took him to the Vet after the biting incident and the Vet suggested she take him to a "Behaviourist".  He also had the gall to say that euthanasia was also an option.  The Duchess couldn't believe he would even consider that.  Why would she destroy her beloved puppy because she didn't teach him the rules?????  Needless to say she was not very happy with the Vet.  However, I think Higgins knew what the Vet was saying because after that he turned into the sweetest, most loving little puppy you could ever want!!!   The rules have changed around here and Higgins knows exactly what the new rules are.  So, things are much better and everyone is happy and still alive

When we are really good we get to chew on our rawhide bones.

I eat mine the fastest so the Duchess keeps a close eye on me.

Bear gets tired of chewing so he just dozes off when he feels like it's safe.

We also get carrots sometimes for a treat.  I love carrots!

Higgins does not like carrots.

He's not too sure what to do with them.

Bear LOVES them. Well, Bear loves anything he can eat.

The Duke and Duchess decided to make bread (without the machine)
and Navy Bean soup with Ham.  They sure made a mess out of the kitchen!

They took turns doing the kneading. The Duchess says it's hard work!

See how clean the oven is?  that's because the Duchess doesn't cook. Really.
But she says she is going to learn.  Better late than never, right?

Can you smell it???? It was yummy!!!

We have been out of the loop the past week,
but we will try to get caught up!

Thanks for stopping by!

Kisses,

  2. This is a great report to hear - Higgins, mind your manners and pay no attention to that vet.

Phantom walks away from carrots, but TD and Ciara love them. They do make a bit of a mess as they break them all up into little pieces.

Bet that bread and soup were really tasty.

  4. That is just a horrible Vet to say something that stupid!!! We don't like that at all! We know the Duchess wasn't pleased one bit! Mister Higgins is a doll and just had a bad night. Holly does the same a lot of times but they said it's just the breeds in her from her mom. I haven't learned to cook yet (I tried it once but gave up)..your cooking sure looks so yummy!!! We love the way Sir Bear has his bone close to him while he takes a nap. The pictures are beautiful! Give those babies lots of hugs from us!!! Lots of love, Debbie and Holly

I am with Mr. Higgins, I don't like carrots, either!

    That dinner looks delicious!

  6. Yum, can I come over for dinner! We love Navy Bean soup here. Mom's secret ingredient is a dash of nutmeg in the soup. Oh man, Not a secret any more! Guess I spill the navy beans!
So good to hear that Mr. Higgins has learned his place in life...never good to bite the hand that feeds and loves you!

  8. Glad Higgins is towing the line.
Hmm, I don't think I'd think much of a vet that was so quick to suggest something so final.
The cooking looks great, you'll have that oven messed up in no time!

  9. So glad Mister Higgins is doing better. I can't believe the vet mentioned that. I have to admit that in this particular situation...I would have to find a different vet. That really bothers me.

  10. Sometimes Vets are insensitive..I would have said "WHAT"..that is lousy advice. A behaviorist is a much better option..rules are good. We have rules here too..but sometimes we get a little slack. We should work on obedience everyday..but we spend lots of time playing ball.
Bread from scratch ..we are impressed..and homemade soup..wish we could come for dinner:)

  11. Oh frick! That should be 'toeing the line', not 'towing the line'. I feel embarrassed:) Happy birthday to me!

  12. Whoa. Pretty stunned that the vet would say that! We all could use some training...furpals and hoomans :) Love the wonderful smells of that delicious meal! Haven't had too many carrots, but mmmmmmm :) Nice to see you pals :)

    Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,

  13. I'm sure your mom was shocked when she heard what the vet said but glad that she didn't pay attention to him.

Carrots? Look yummy though but our Mika doesn't like it either.

  14. I am appalled at the Vet's suggestion!

Other than that, this was wonderful post and save us some soup, we're on the way!

  15. Very glad to hear that Mr. Higgins is behaving himself. Anybody can have an off day, but it is very wise of you to be sure that he doesn't get the chance to misbehave again. In the horse world, it's called "making a good behavior easy, & making a bad behavior, impossible."
My best to all of you ....

  16. Hey, I made soup and bread yesterday, too! It must have been that kind of day. We give Cabana carrots, but only the baby ones or a small piece. I've never given her an entire full-size carrot before! Those pups are lucky!

  21. Glad to hear you are getting help with Mr. Higgins, he is an adorable pooch! I always tell people that there is no such thing as bad dogs, you just need to understand what makes them tick! Keep working with him and it is going to make a difference.

Your dinner looks delicious and your oven looks like mine..nice and clean!!!!
